Day 14: a marathon and then some extra

6 April

A loooong day: I started off at 4:45am (yup) and just kept walking.

I really wanted to make it to Balingup today, but double hutting meant that I’d have to cover 44km.

Not much to write home about, just lots more jarah and mari forest in various states of regrowth after more or less recent fires or planned back burns.

At 38km, I hit a road and realised that following the road into town instead of the track would save me 2.5km. Hell yeah!

When I got to town, I still had to walk to the visitor centre to get the key for the campsite amenities, so that added another 15 min. By the time I finally got to drop my pack, I was close to tears... a hot shower and some miso soup later, the world looked a lot better again.
But 40+km is probably a little bit more than I’d like to do in one day with my currently very heavy backpack.
