2 days to go to the “Bibb”
It’s starting to get real - I’ve spent most of the day yesterday packing meals (27x oats with milk powder, 22 dehydrated or instant dinners so far) (some a bit more gourmet than others - I have dehydrated a lot of meals and veggies myself, I found some really interesting options at an Asian supermarket, so there will be some miso ramen with added freeze dried shrimp and some spicy rice with vegan 5 spice “jerky”!) (and yes, there will be instant mashed potatoes and Continental pasta Alfredo 🤤).
I’m going to carry food for the first 7 days, probably with one extra to be safe - we all know that I can get very “hangry” if not fed well.
From then on, I will sent myself supply boxes to the towns along the track to pick up as I get there. And there will be a few small supermarkets and the odd country coffee shop (not holding my breath for an oat latte though 🤣).
What’s left now are things like getting my new ereader set up
(yes, I’ve succumbed finally - can’t really carry books to read for 4 weeks by myself), reading the manual for the Garmin Inreach, so I actually know how to call help if I need to get choppered out and make a dash to Bunnings to buy some duct tape. Just in case something might fall apart. Cable binders and duct tape - I learned that in Canada many years ago when I did my first long(ish) hike.
